Just finished up with Blake's soccer game. He has one more left this spring. This is the level at which they play hard about half the time. They know if they won or lost. They just can't quite remember the exact score. Blake always thinks he scored one or two goals more than he actually did. He always has fun playing. He has played three seasons so far and has been on three completely different teams. He still prefers ice hockey to soccer. We hope to have him play baseball also. For that matter, we would like him to try as many sports as he wants. He is very active and loves playing sports. As long as he wants to play, we will continue to have him play the sports he wants.

Back from Salt Lake City, Utah. Here are a couple of photos taken from the Rocky Mountain Player Development Camp. Both are from scrimmages on the final day.

There were four teams at the 1993 (birth year) age group. Each team had six defenseman. Out of the 24 defenseman, 12 were from Colorado. The rest came from New Mexico, Texas, Arizona, Utah, Idaho and Oklahoma.

Flew into Salt Lake City, UT on the 30th with Dalton for the Rocky Mountain District Player Selection Camp. The schedule is packed full of on-ice and off-ice events through Sunday. Dalton was able to get some extra ice in at a goalie session. He is in the green jersey. This photo taken today at the Olympic Oval with a cell phone.  Also check the image/motion page for some video clips.

Some good news for the family, Dalton participated in the USA Hockey Colorado Player Selection Camp this last weekend. He was selected to the team that goes to Salt Lake to participate in the Rocky Mountain District Player Selection Camp. They choose players by birth year. The top players in the state at each age level. For Dalton's birth year, 1993, the state picked 16 forwards and 8 defenseman. Dalton is one of 8 defenseman going to Salt Lake to try and make the district team. We are very proud of the hard work and determination he has shown. His skill level has increased dramatically over the past few years. A big thanks goes out to his Hockey Director and coach, Tim Knox as well as coach Roger Gill. We are looking forward to the trip and the experience. Dalton enjoyed the Colorado Selection Camp and is excited to participate in the Rocky Mountain District Camp in Salt Lake.

The Republic Miniolian arrived today. The sound reminds me of the opening guitar part from the Dire Straits song "Romeo and Juliet." You never know what you are going to get when you purchase something without holding it and inspecting it. There have been a ton of good reviews for Frank Helsley and his company out of Texas. I just went for it. I am more than pleased with the appearance, quality and tone. This was a great purchase. I highly recommend Frank and Republic Guitars. The photo to the right has a bit of a reddish tint that is more related to the lighting than the actual color of the guitar. I have included various photos that I took today on a number of pages here at the website. Frank may also start carrying a steel parlor resonator in the near future. The size of these parlor guitars is a real benefit. This guitar has a big sound. I am going to enjoy my Republic Miniolian for quite sometime.

I just ordered the Republic Miniolian guitar today. He only had a couple left so it lit a fire under me. It should be here in a few days. Frank Helsley is the owner of Republic which is based out of the Dallas, Texas area. He has received a lot of good feedback on these guitars. Looking forward to mine arriving. The image to the right is what mine will look like. The guitar is a parlor size guitar which means the body is somewhat smaller that a full size acoustic guitar. The resonator is the same size  which should give it plenty of volume. You can find out more about these guitars by going to Frank's website Republic Guitars. He has a number of different styles of resophonic guitars, mandolins, ukuleles and more. I will probably post a few photos once it arrives. In addition to those, I should probably post photos of the other guitars I have here at the house. I know I have more than I should and after speaking with Frank today, I realize I probably need one or two more.
